Traditional shoji are made with
minimal hardware or devices for sliding. Western conditions and
applications require different mechanisms and tracking systems to
ensure a smooth sliding or opening action.
Because every situation is
different we choose from a range of sliding tracks, hinges and
rollers to suit the job. For sliding shoji screens we can suggest
top hung aluminium smooth sliding tracks in custom designed pelmet
boxes with bottom nylon guides.
We can custom design some applications
using timber tracks and guides so there is minimal hardware
seen or used. Sometimes we "V" groove existing or new floorboards
for bottom rolling applications. This allows a seamless finish for
your flooring with no toe stubbing.
Shoji Screens Australia offers
handles imported direct from Shoji Screens Sasaki in Japan. These handles
are beautifully made and add to the real look of Japanese shoji.
They are available in metal with silver and gold finish and true
Japanese ebony timber handles inlaid into the shoji frame.
